Beauty that killed the beast

It was a nice Saturday morning, and we went to watch the movie 'King Kong'. My first movie with my entire family, not missing on any single person. Can give a treat for that :-)

The theater as usual, full of people. I could see shorts everywhere, and couldn't identify whether a guy or a girl. Wondering what dressing in the theater means. Okay, no controversies.

As you enter you can hear a cute voice over the microphone shouting 'Go Fida'. A contest for Ford's new release 'Fiesta', a paper Abhishek Bachchan standing next to magestic white car. A participant spurting out wrong answers and getting hit by his friend.

Though I deserve the car, I didnt want to miss out on the first scenes (as I usually do when friends come along) and so we skipped the fun outside and directly went in. Coz the fun inside is definitely greater than the fun outside. My nephew and me fighting over who sits in the corner. I won. Coz he is 3 and is driven by chocolates.

And here came the first commercial, a lovely Sushmita Sen clad in beautiful sarees for every shot, diamonds adding more to her gorgeous attire. Wondered whether the diamond got its beauty, being worn by her.

Then came a list of boring ones, me running a countdown in my mind for the movie to begin.

And alas, the movie began. A nice New York in 1940s or so. A pretty stage actor being called in by a movie producer to shoot his movie on some undiscovered "Skull Island". A dangerous mission, coz they never knew if they would return. She agrees due to cash crunches.

The ship voyage, a scary one, they enter a dark rocky island. A place full of scary barbarian tribes and weird animals and reptiles. The dinosaurs aren't an exception.

The tribes give the actor on a sacrifice to a 25 feet high beast. Then comes our Hero King Kong. Yeah, the Hero. Coz he goes around rescuing our actor from many of her near death encounters.

They become good friends as she entertains him.Her crew is in search of her, and get attacked by many beasts. Several die in the mission. They somehow capture Kong and bring him to the city to make millions. He goes around in search of his best friend, the actor. Finally he gets killed coz man never likes his habitat to be exploited by animals, though he exploits theirs for his own selfish needs.

In the end, you would find yourself in tears as the producer says "It was not man, but beauty that killed the beast".

No im not narrating the story. But it will be great to see yourself applauding King Kong for his might and valour. The movie was superb and sure to win at the Oscars. One will have to search for the graphics, coz they were not obvious at all.

And guess who's work all this is ? Peter Jackson of 'Lord of the Rings' fame. This has become one of my favourites and sure to become yours too. A must watch movie.

i liked the visuals in the movie. king kong looked so real! however, i found the movie a bit of a drag, especially in the beginning part. peter jackson is an awesome director. LOTR is one of the best!

happy new year!

Well, I watched the movie with a friend and a 3-year old. And after some 2 hours, all of us, including the kiddo, couldn't wait to get out of the theater!

Wish some crisp editing had happened coz the jungle sequences were pretty long-drawn. Just got immensely tiresome. :(

Yeah, almost 3 hrs 20 mins on the reels. Even the previous king kongs were quite long.
